Creature Comfort Foundation Donates ComfortKits and Slumberkins to Community Regional Medical Center

FRESNO, CA – The Creature Comfort Foundation continued its heartfelt mission to deliver emotional support to children in medical care with a special donation to the Acute Care Pediatric Unit at Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) in Fresno, California. The delivery included dozens of ComfortKits and Slumberkins Bigfoot and Sprite Kins—items specially curated to provide emotional support and sensory engagement for children facing hospital stays.

Community Regional Medical Center, part of Community Health System, is one of the largest and most comprehensive health centers in California’s Central Valley, renowned for its commitment to delivering compassionate care, advanced medicine, and a full range of pediatric services. Through its Child Life Program, CRMC provides critical support to young patients and their families during challenging times, helping reduce stress and foster healing through play and therapeutic interventions.

Child Life Specialist Linda Her Lao, MS, CLS, expressed appreciation for the donation, noting the immediate impact on patients and staff:

“We’ve already started providing them to our patients and families and have received positive feedback! The staff have been in awe of what you guys are doing. Thank you!”

The ComfortKits, designed by the Creature Comfort Foundation, are filled with sensory tools, art supplies, stress-relief items, and a heartwarming storybook—each element chosen to help children cope with the emotional challenges of hospital treatment. The addition of Slumberkins Bigfoot and Sprite plushies, known for their focus on emotional wellness, adds a layer of comfort, imagination, and self-regulation support.

“We’re proud to support the dedicated Child Life team at CRMC,” said Ava Builione, Founder of the Creature Comfort Foundation. “Every delivery is a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference in the life of a child facing medical challenges.”
