Creature Comfort Foundation Expands Support to CHOC at Mission Hospital with Donation of ComfortKits and Slumberkins for Pediatric and NICU Patients
MISSION VIEJO, CA — The Creature Comfort Foundation continued its mission to bring emotional support and healing tools to children in hospitals by delivering a generous donation of ComfortKits and Slumberkins Bigfoot and Sprite Kins to CHOC at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, California.
Led by Certified Child Life Specialist Brittany Ferran, M.S., CCLS, the team at CHOC welcomed the donation with open arms. Located on the fifth floor of Mission Hospital, CHOC at Mission serves a variety of pediatric needs—including Pediatrics, PICU, NICU, and consults for children impacted by adult patient care. While the campus is smaller than its Orange County counterpart, the care and compassion delivered by the team is just as impactful.
“We are SO excited for the donation and are super grateful to be working with your organization,” said Brittany Ferran. “Creature Comfort’s ComfortKits and Slumberkins help us create more child-friendly care experiences across our units.”
The ComfortKits, created by Creature Comfort Foundation, include soothing items like emotion-centered activity books, breathing tools, soft plush items, and guided prompts to help children feel safe, connected, and supported during difficult medical journeys. Paired with Slumberkins—therapeutic creatures designed to help children express big feelings—these deliveries provide both emotional support and joy for young patients and their families.
Creature Comfort Foundation has been growing its hospital partnerships across the country, working closely with child life teams to deliver tangible tools for healing and emotional regulation. This delivery continues the Foundation’s expanding presence in Southern California, and follows earlier donations at CHOC’s Orange campus.
“At Creature Comfort, we believe small acts make a big impact,” said Ava Petersen, Director of Programming. “We’re honored to support Brittany and the CHOC Mission team as they care for children through every step of their recovery.
