Creature Comfort Foundation Donates ComfortKits and Slumberkins to CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange, CA

Comfort Delivered: Creature Comfort Foundation Donates Plush Toys and ComfortKits to CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange, CA

Orange, CA — June 2025 — The Creature Comfort Foundation has partnered with CHOC Children’s Hospital – Main Campus in Orange, California, to bring comfort and emotional support to children undergoing medical treatment. The foundation’s latest donation included dozens of Slumberkins plush characters—Bigfoot and Sprite Kins—alongside Creature Comfort ComfortKits packed with sensory items, calming tools, crayons, notepads, and companion storybooks.

CHOC (Children’s Health of Orange County) is a nationally recognized pediatric healthcare system dedicated to clinical excellence and compassionate care. Their main hospital in Orange serves thousands of children each year through specialized programs in oncology, neurology, and critical care. Known for its child- and family-centered approach, CHOC provides a healing environment that addresses the emotional well-being of patients as well as their physical needs.

Creature Comfort’s donation was coordinated through Rachel Connor, MSW, LCSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker III in CHOC’s Social Services department. “We’re so grateful for these beautiful gifts,” said Rachel. “The kids absolutely light up when they receive their Slumberkins and ComfortKits. These small touches of kindness make a big difference in how our patients cope during treatment. We’re excited to share this with other CHOC pediatric units too.” And thank you to Michelle Greene, MSW, LCSW and Emily Thompson, MS, CCLS for coordinating and helping to spread the word!

A Mission Rooted in Empathy
The Creature Comfort Foundation was founded with a mission to support children in hospitals by delivering ComfortKits designed to ease anxiety, reduce stress, and provide a sense of connection and care. With each delivery, the foundation partners directly with child life specialists, social workers, and medical staff to ensure kits are tailored to the needs of patients across all ages and medical journeys.

“This partnership with CHOC reflects the heart of our mission,” said Ava Builione, founder of Creature Comfort Foundation. “Every delivery is a reminder that comfort and compassion should be part of every child’s care.”
