Creature Comfort Brings Emotional Support to City of Hope Pediatric Patients in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles, CA — The Creature Comfort Foundation is proud to announce its latest delivery of ComfortKits to the Children's Cancer Center at City of Hope in Los Angeles, California. This meaningful donation supports the hospital's mission to provide world-class cancer care while nurturing the emotional and psychological needs of its youngest patients.

The donation was received by Jo Ann Namm, M.S., CCLS, Manager of the Child Life Program, along with her incredible child life team who help guide children and families through the challenges of pediatric cancer care.

Each ComfortKit includes a curated selection of tools designed to provide coping strategies and emotional support during hospitalization. Inside every kit are therapeutic storybooks, activity-filled notepads, crayons, sensory toys, and a heartfelt note from Creature Comfort Foundation's founder, Ava Builione. These items are meant to help ease anxiety, promote expression, and foster resilience in young patients.

City of Hope is internationally recognized for its compassionate and comprehensive approach to cancer treatment, with a dedicated pediatric division that blends clinical excellence with supportive care services. By working closely with the Child Life Department, Creature Comfort ensures that its offerings directly serve the needs of children undergoing difficult medical journeys.

“We believe that small gestures can make a big difference,” said Ava Builione. “ComfortKits are our way of putting love, care, and a little creativity into the hands of every child who needs comfort and courage during treatment.”

Creature Comfort Foundation continues to expand its national outreach by partnering with hospitals, child life specialists, and healthcare teams to deliver both ComfortKits and Slumberkins plushies to children across the country.
