Comfort and Smiles Arrive at Northwell Health Pediatric Unit

The Creature Comfort Foundation is proud to announce its latest donation of ComfortKits and Slumberkins to the pediatric patients at Northwell Health’s Center for Advanced Medicine in New Hyde Park, New York. This ongoing partnership continues to bring comfort, creativity, and care to children receiving medical treatment across the country.

Each ComfortKit includes thoughtfully selected items—like Crayola crayons, Play-Doh, a notebook, fidget toys, and our original storybook Find Comfort in the Comfort Creatures—designed to help children find moments of calm and self-expression during their hospital stay. The addition of Slumberkins plush companions further enhances the emotional support provided through these donations.

Christy French, MS, CCLS, Associate Child Life Specialist at Northwell Health, shared the immediate impact of the delivery:

“We have already shared with a couple of patients and they helped tremendously! Thank you VERY much. We look forward to continuing to work with Creature Comfort.”

The Creature Comfort Foundation was founded by Ava Builione, who transformed her personal experience with anxiety and empathy for children in medical settings into a national initiative that has reached over 70 hospitals. Each delivery reinforces the Foundation’s mission—to bring hope, smiles, and a sense of comfort to children when they need it most.

As the partnership with Northwell Health grows, the Foundation looks forward to sharing more heartwarming stories and photos from the patients whose days have been brightened by these small but powerful acts of kindness.
