Creature Comfort Foundation Celebrates Giving Tuesday with a Call to Bring Comfort, Courage, and Connection to Children in Medical Care
December 2, 2025 — Today, Creature Comfort Foundation proudly joins millions around the world in celebrating Giving Tuesday, the global movement dedicated to generosity, community, and positive impact. This year, the foundation is highlighting the essential emotional support needs of children undergoing medical care and inviting the public to help expand its reach to hospitals nationwide.
Creature Comfort Foundation was created by Ava Builione, whose personal experience with pediatric care illuminated how deeply children can struggle with anxiety, fear, and loneliness in clinical settings. A simple act of kindness—handing a plush companion to a stressed young patient while volunteering in an emergency room—sparked her vision:
to ensure that no child faces a difficult medical moment without comfort, connection, and emotional support.
Today, that vision lives through the foundation’s core initiative:
ComfortKits — thoughtfully curated packages designed to reduce stress and spark joy for hospitalized children.
Each kit includes emotional-support items such as plush companions, activity tools, bilingual resources for families, and items that encourage creativity, grounding, and comfort.
The Need Is Growing
Children in hospitals need more than clinical treatment—they need reassurance, connection, and moments of joy. Child Life teams across the country continually emphasize the positive emotional impact ComfortKits bring to patients and their families.
“These items are already making a difference. Our patients and families are so grateful,” shared the Child Life team at Driscoll Children’s Hospital following a recent donation.
