Creature Comfort Foundation Brings Comfort and Joy to Ochsner Children’s Hospital Patients
NEW ORLEANS, LA — Creature Comfort Foundation’s mission to bring comfort and joy to children in hospitals continues to shine, with a recent donation of Slumberkins plush companions and ComfortKits to Ochsner Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The donation quickly made an impact in the hospital’s pediatric acute unit, where Certified Child Life Specialist Demi Newton shared the heartwarming story of Bre’Ella, a young patient recovering from surgery.
“Her unicorn was the first thing Bre’Ella wanted after having her surgery,” said Newton. “We read her book together to help her build confidence and positive self-image. She was so happy — kicking and dancing as we read — and it was such a beautiful moment to see her smiling again.”
Each ComfortKit is thoughtfully designed to reduce anxiety and promote emotional well-being during medical care. They include creative and sensory items like crayons, activity books, and stress toys, alongside Slumberkins plushes that provide emotional connection and reassurance.
Ochsner Children’s Hospital, the only hospital in Louisiana dedicated exclusively to pediatric care, provides comprehensive services for children and families across the Gulf South region. The partnership with Creature Comfort Foundation supports the hospital’s ongoing commitment to compassionate, child-centered healing.
